Sometimes You Just Want One – Even in South Korea
Having lived for a decade in High Point, North Carolina, a short drive from the corporate headquarters of one of the state’s most internationally recognized companies, I became an admirer of an all-American creation that’s loved by people around the world: the doughnut.
But not just any doughnut.
In North Carolina it's all about Krispy Kreme and its iconic “Original Glazed” doughnut. Whether you’re in Winston-Salem (the company’s 1937 birthplace), Seattle, or Seoul, it doesn’t matter. Warm Krispy Kreme doughnuts - the kind I remember smelling and eating at High Point’s Main Street store - are possibly the most amazing culinary delights known to man. Add a cup coffee and you’re in heaven.
In 2004, Krispy Kreme opened its first Asian store in, yep, you guessed it, South Korea. Today there are over 100 stores throughout the country. Koreans love their glazed KK doughnuts.
They also love a strange doughnut variation that's unique to their country: the Pokemon. Not sure what to say about it, so a picture and your imagination will have to suffice.
The “Hot Now” button just lit up.
Time for a doughnut . . .
Enjoy!
